Melissa Doherty

BA '93, Fine Arts

Melissa Doherty.Melissa Doherty graduated in 1993 with an Honours B.A. (Fine Arts) from the University of Waterloo, and was short listed in 2002 for Royal Bank of Canada's New Canadian Painting Competition. 

In 2008 she received the University of Waterloo, Arts in Academics Alumni Recognition Award.  She is included in the Magenta publication Carte Blanche Volume 2: Painting, a compendium of contemporary Canadian painters. A recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council, her work has been exhibited across Canada and in the U.S, including Queen's Park, the University of Toronto, Harbourfront Centre, Art Chicago, and the Musée des beaux Arts, Sherbrooke, Quebec.  

Her work is represented in private and public collections in Canada and the United States, including the Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Montreal, FEMMARTE, Sir Elton John, and the University of Toronto.  Her next exhibit is at the Art Gallery of Peterborough in 2013.  Melissa works from her studio at the Tannery in Kitchener, and is represented by the Edward Day Gallery in Toronto.
