Teaching and learning are at the centre of what we do in the Faculty of Arts. Our teachers are committed to exploring ideas, expanding perspectives and building understanding with and among their students. Ask any professor, and they'll tell you that they learn as much from teaching as do their students.
In all our programs, undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to find and make connections between theory and practice, between past, present and future, between disciplines, and between cultures. We want our students to graduate with critical and creative insights on our diverse and rapidly changing world, and to recognize their own potential to contribute to a better world.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
