Transcripts and credits

  • Normally, the exchange university will also send your official transcript to the Global Learning Team within two months of returning home.
    • Note: for students studying in the UK, please expect a delay as transcripts are only sent once a year in July (because grades must be approved by a British Examination Board who meet only once a year in June).
    •  Note: some partner schools now require the student to request their transcripts be sent. Please be sure to read your instructional package carefully!
  • The results on your exchange transcript will be compared to your pre-approved courses. UW transfer credits will be granted for courses successfully completed with a passing grade as determined by the partner school’s grading system.
    • The approved credits will be added to your UW transcript with the designation “credit”, but without any numerical grade or percentage.
    • Courses taken on exchange will not calculate into your UW average.
    • Failed courses will not appear on your Waterloo record, but will appear as failures on your overseas transcript. If you are thinking about applying to graduate school, do note that they will require original copies of all transcripts.
  • You are encourage to share with your peers your experience!
