SUMMARY:Instructor Feedback Session on the Development of the Disability\nA
 ffinity Program
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:As the University of Waterloo strives to advance accessibility
and\ndisability inclusion on our campuses\, consultation and community\nen
gagement play a key role in amplifying the equity-denied voices.\nWhere th
e previous Accessibility Advisory Panel focused primarily on\ncommunity en
gagement through one-way communication\, the newly proposed\nDisability Af
finity Program seeks to build community space for\nstudents\, staff\, and
faculty with disabilities or neurodivergence to\nfacilitate more authentic
consultation opportunities.\n\nIn this session\, instructors are invited
to share their ideas and\nfeedback on the development of the Disability Af
finity Program as a\npotential\, future space for instructors with disabil
ities to seek\nmentorship\, peer support\, networking\, and knowledge exch
 ange.

SUMMARY:Equitable Assessment of Teaching at Waterloo
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The research on student course evaluations loudly exclaims that
\noverreliance on one perspective in teaching assessment – the student\n
perspective – has a negative impact on both the wellbeing and career\ntr
ajectory of faculty members who belong to systemically oppressed\npopulati
ons. Join Dr. Kim Buchanan (Office of Equity\, Diversity\,\nInclusion and
Anti-racism) and Dr. Sonya Buffone (Teaching Assessment\nProcesses Office)
to learn about the concrete steps Waterloo is taking\nto establish a more
  equitable\, holistic model of teaching\nassessment.

n the specific content of the lesson.\nEach participant will receive a wid
ely-recognized certificate of\nachievement upon successful completion of t
he ISW\, which requires 24\ncontact hours\, over three or four days.
