The University of Waterloo has an institutional membership with the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), "an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community of faculty, postdocs, and graduate students." To join, go to http://www.facultydiversity.org/join.
A variety of resources are included with this membership. They are listed in the table below, which also makes note of overlapping or complementary supports provided at the University of Waterloo.
Note: The NCFDD is an American organization. It includes members from a number of countries, including several from Canada, but you should use caution when considering some of the information listed on their site. For instance, the publishing and job market information is specific to the United States, and some of the information about planning, writing, submitting and defending a dissertation does not address specifics that need to be taken into account at Waterloo.
NCFDD resources available with institutional membership
Consider beginning your exploration of NCFDD by viewing "Making the Most of your NCFDD membership," and be sure to take some time to explore the available resources; the list below only includes upcoming workshops and webinars as well as more recent recordings listed in the NCFDD library. Some NCFDD resources are available at an additional institutional cost; contact David DeVidi to express an interest in making this programming available at Waterloo.
