SUMMARY:Astroseminar - Patrick Janulewicz - IN PERSON
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Patrick is a graduate student at McGill University whose work
 is\nprimarily focused on brightest cluster galaxies\, cosmological\nsimula
tions\, and data-driven approaches to astronomy. He works\nin Tracy Webb'
s galaxy evolution group at McGill and Laurence\nPerreault-Levasseur's gro
up at the University of Montreal\, which\nfocuses on applying techniques
from statistics and machine learning to\nsolve problems in astrophysics. H
e is also a member of The Three\nHundred collaboration\, which studies pro
perties of over 300 simulated\ngalaxy clusters and their environment. His
current work involves\nbridging the gap between simulations and observati
ons\, as well as\nautomating the identification of brightest cluster galax
 ies for\nupcoming large surveys.
