SUMMARY:Astroseminar - Tomás Cassanelli
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:\"Canadian-Chilean array for radio transient studies (CHARTS)\"
\n\nTomás Cassanelli is an astronomer and assistant professor\nspecializi
ng in astronomical instrumentation at Universidad de Chile.\nHe holds a Ph
D in Astronomy & Astrophysics from the University of\nToronto\, where he f
ocused on fast radio burst (FRB) localization at\nthe time of detection us
ing very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI).\nHis research spans radio as
tronomy\, including analog and digital\ncomponents\, as well as fast optic
al astronomy with fast photon\ncounters. Tomás' scientific interests lie
in the rapidly varying\ntransient sky such as pulsars\, FRBs\, and long pe
riod transients\, and\ninterferometric methods across radio to optical wav
elengths.
