SUMMARY:Astroseminar - Rachel Bezanson
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Rachel Bezanson is Associate Professor at the University of\nPi
ttsburgh. She is an observational astronomer interested in empirical\nstud
ies of massive galaxies\, both today and in the early Universe. Her\nresea
rch aims to disentangle and interpret the morphological\,\nstructural\, an
d dynamical evolution of massive galaxies through cosmic\ntime. She is int
erested in understanding how and when galaxies form\,\nhow star-forming ga
laxies turn off - or “quench” - their\nstar-formation\, and the physic
al processes that drive the evolution of\nearly galaxies into the bimodal
and well-behaved galaxy populations\nobserved in the local Universe.
