CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:\"The Stellar Recipe for an Earth-like Planet\"\n\nEmily Pass i
s an observational astronomer who studies exoplanets and\nsmall stars. Her
research seeks to uncover how stellar diversity\nsculpts planet populatio
ns\, with the ultimate goal of determining the\nstellar conditions necessa
ry for habitable worlds. In recognition of\nthis work\, she was named one
 of Forbes 30 under 30 for 2026. As a PhD\nstudent at Harvard University\,
she was also a Peirce Fellow and NSERC\nPostgraduate Scholar\, and her the
sis was awarded the 2024 Fireman\nPrize. She is currently a Juan Carlos To
rres Postdoctoral Fellow at\nthe MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and
Space Research\, but will\nsoon be moving to the Université de Montréal
 as an assistant\nprofessor.

 nExtragalactic Astronomy (Skylar Grayson)
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:A hundred years ago\, astronomers believed the Milky Way to be
the only\ngalaxy in the Universe. In this month's KPL astronomy talk\, Sky
lar\nGrayson will take us on an adventure through history\, exploring how\
nthe discoveries of the early 20th century expanded our understanding\nof
the scale of the Universe\, and created the new scientific field of\nextra
galactic astronomy. We'll learn about the cutting edge research\nhappening
in that field today\, and the ways in which anyone can\ncontribute to act
 ual scientific research!
