SUMMARY:Profs Present - DNA aptamers: disease diagnosis and targeted drug\n
 delivery
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:ABSTRACT\n\nDNA aptamers are single-stranded DNA oligonucleotid
es that can\nselectively bind to target molecules. They can be used for th
e\ndetection of various metabolites and proteins as disease biomarkers.\nO
ur lab recently discovered new aptamers that can bind to caffeine\,\nuric
acid and lactate\, and converted them to highly sensitive and\nselective f
luorescent biosensors. In addition\, we have isolated\naptamers that can b
ind to exosomes\, which could be used for the\nisolation and detection of
exosomes as important disease biomarkers.\nFinally\, we have isolated apt
amers that can bind to pig cornea and\nestablished an aptamer-enhanced ocu
lar drug delivery method to treat\ndry eye diseases.
