Jesse Hoey awarded funding from Trans-Atlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities

Jesse Hoey and team received a $850,000 grant from the Trans-Atlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP) for their research that will explore social and psychological mechanisms of self-organized collaborations, focusing on the open, collaborative software development platform GitHub.

Professor Karim Karim featured by CMC Microsystems as success story for reinventing X-ray technology

A novel combination of advanced design tools, low cost materials and commonly used manufacturing technologies and processes is helping University of Waterloo engineering professor Karim S. Karim develop better, safer imaging at a lower cost.

His startup company, KA Imaging, is commercializing a highly sensitive X-ray detector that produces a higher quality image with almost 40 percent less radiation, making the technology safer for both patients and the clinicians that operate it.

Pascal Poupart talks hockey, AI, and wearable sensors to detect physical and mental health

Pascal Poupart is leading a team that is developing interactive artificial intelligence that improves hockey and physical and mental health. In collaboration with HockeyTech, a local company that analyzes data from hockey games, the AI system can help talent scouts determine which players to recruit and help coaches to better understand what makes one player superior to another.
