Rooney Lab wins Holiday Hallway Competition for the second consecutive year

Each December, the Department of Biology and the Biology Graduate Student Association host a holiday door decorating contest to celebrate the festive season. Biology staff and students judged the eight doors based on the creativity, visual appeal and originality of each lab’s decorations.

The Rooney lab defended their title and beat seven other labs to win the 2017 Holiday Hallway competition for the second year in a row. The Hall and Hug labs came in second and third place respectively.

Biology grad students carve out time for some Halloween fun

The Biology Graduate Student Association (BGSA) held their first annual pumpkin carving contest yesterday in which graduate students were tasked with designing and carving a Halloween pumpkin in less than an hour.

For one week in September, graduate students in the Collaborative Water Program (CWP) step outside of the classroom and gain hands-on learning experience from local water experts and community members in the Grand River Watershed.
