The week of June 10th is Convocation week, with Science graduates being celebrated in two ceremonies on Thursday, June 13th. Waterloo has been the major focus of the lives of our graduates for the past few years and, especially for graduate students, they have been important members of the Department. The contributions that students make to the Department through advancing our research, through supporting our teaching program, and through enriching our culture, are immeasurable. Although sitting through a long ceremony (though each one should be shorter this year) can seem like a burden, the graduates deserve our recognition and gratitude for their many contributions to our Department. For many, this will be their last and lasting impression of their University, and I hope everyone will participate to make it a good one.
