Infographics can be used to creatively and succinctly showcase data and data relationships.

Guiding principles

Type and hierarchy

Hierarchy in infographics is important in order to guide readers and bring clarity to the information. Data should be typeset in Bureau Grotesque at the largest point size, with subcopy set in Le Monde Livre Std and captions set in Typ1451 (or their alternatives). Use bold keylines to separate blocks of data.

Colour is an excellent way to bring life to an infographic. Use colour purposefully as a way to represent amounts or groupings of data.

Symbols or icons should be used as a tool to display data in an intuitive way. Only use symbols in the right context and if they help to communicate data effectively. Avoid using symbols decoratively or without purpose.
