Professor Wandel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo and leads the Community-Based Assessment (CBVA) phases of the ParCA and Global Islands' Vulnerability Research, Adaptation, Policy and Development (GIVRAPD) projects. She has conducted vulnerability assessments in a wide range of locations and contexts including dryland agriculture, the Canadian High Arctic, and southern Ontario homeless communities. Her current research interests are focused on using CBVA as a baseline to plan for reduction of future vulnerability and scaling up community-level assessments to give insights into broader climate adaptation issues.
