Interdisciplinary Engineering Info for 3A and 3B Students

Interdisciplinary Engineering Capstone Design | Information for 3A and 3B Students

Interdisciplinary Capstone Students

I never have to worry about creativity. Because we work with diverse teams, creativity takes care of itself.

DR. CURT CARLSON, Stanford Research Institute

The Interdisciplinary Engineering Capstone Design course sequence, GENE403 and GENE404, is an important alternative for 3B students who wish to come together as an interdisciplinary engineering team to tackle tough problems with multi-disciplinary dimensions. The class provides a unique learning environment for students from all across the Faculty. It challenges their abilities to communicate and to share their disciplinary-specific knowledge with their peers. The instructional team is also interdisciplinary, enhancing this important context.

We agree with Thomas Edison, who over 160 years ago realized the value of having diverse teams. This course represents a more authentic engineering context which will better prepare our students for the real-world demands of professional practice.

The next information session is planned for Friday, October 21, 2022 | 3:00 p.m.
