In this workshop, we will explore networking basics in academia and learn how to maximize the opportunities to engage in networking events and practices that will benefit your career. We will dissect what cover-letters are actually about, talk about challenges you might face and chat about strategies that help your writing process.

Reaching out and connecting with total strangers about career stuff can be totally nerve-wracking and awkward. In this workshop we will abandon traditional ideas of “networking” and talk about connecting to other people as people. We will explore reasons to connect with others, some of the challenges you might face (e.g. anxiety, nerves, imposter syndrome, etc.), and give you tips and connect you with resources for navigating talking to strangers about career stuff in a new way.
