Does the idea of networking make you super anxious? When you hear the word "networking" do you shudder? Do you feel all these things but want to do it anyways? Well this event is for you! This is an event for folks who hate networking but want to practice with fellow people who hate networking. Supportive environment to practice new skills in a safe(r) space!
Reaching out and connecting with total strangers about career stuff can be totally nerve-wracking and awkward. In this workshop we will abandon traditional ideas of “networking” and talk about connecting to other people as people. We will explore reasons to connect with others, some of the challenges you might face (e.g. anxiety, nerves, imposter phenomenon, etc.), and give you tips and connect you with resources for navigating talking to strangers about career stuff in a new way.

Workshop participants will also develop strategies for articulating these skills to target audiences (e.g. potential employers). If you can recognize what you're learning and how your skills translate to the job market, you can set yourself apart from other candidates! The skills identification and articulation workshop is one of six milestones in the EDGE academic certificate program.

This event is open to folks from any discipline with an MMI this application cycle for a professional school program. There will also be time to answer any questions you have about job fairs, networking, and LinkedIn.
