Learn how to put your best foot forward at this Crush Your Coding Interview Workshop by Facebook. This session will focus on how to do well in software engineering and data engineering interviews. It will cover how to walk through an algorithm problem, how to brainstorm solutions, how to discuss the problem with your interviewer, and how to write (and test) code on a whiteboard. “Dominate Your Data & Slam Dunk Your SQL" will build on your pre-existing SQL and Data Analysis skills, and to ensure readiness for a Data Engineer or Data Scientist interview at Facebook. This presentation will be given by Murtadha Al-Tameemi, Software Engineer, and Ryan Bedard, Data Engineer, from Facebook. Murtadha is originally from Baghdad, and received his Bachelor's in Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He has been working at Facebook for the last four years on Internet.org. In this role, he travels the world to help a project to bring internet connectivity to parts of the world not yet connected. Ryan graduated from UCONN (university of Connecticut) in 2014 with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He has been working at Facebook as a Growth Data Engineer for over two and a half years. He spent the first half of his data engineering career on the Internet.org team building out their scalable data ecosystem from scratch. After Internet.Org he continued to build out data tools that help remove a lot of friction getting online in other countries. He spends his time now building out data frameworks and tools that help push the data engineering field forward. This class is open to any University of Waterloo student, at any level, whether they plan to ever apply to Facebook or not. Please note that we will not be collecting any resumes or applications at this event. We want this to be an available resource for you as you prepare for interviews in your future.
