OTTAWA – Canada Post is pleased to have reached tentative short-term agreements with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). The agreements will avert a work disruption, bringing much-needed certainty in the postal system for our employees and customers. Canadians can now use the postal system with confidence. This is especially important as Canadian businesses large and small are already planning for the upcoming holiday shipping season.
They're giving it another 24 hours. Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have agreed for a second time to extend mediated contract talks. The two sides say they'll continue bargaining for another day with the help of a special mediator in a bid to resolve their labour dispute.
Mail and parcels are being processed and delivered across the country as normal.
Canada Post and its workers will remain at the bargaining table, putting off a plan by employees to begin rolling overtime bans today. The job action was the latest move in the months-long dispute as the Crown corporation and its union argue over pay scales for rural letter carriers and proposed pension changes. The mediator in the dispute requested a 24-hour extension to the talks, which both sides agreed to.
OTTAWA – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has provided Canada Post with 72-hour strike notices. The union will be in a legal position to commence strike action on August 28, 2016.
Negotiations between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continue and unfortunately we are no closer to a resolution. Over the next ten days, we do expect to see some activity from the union as they attempt to address the expiration of their strike mandate.
