As part of the University of Waterloo's strategic plan, the University aims to offer experiential education opportunities for students beyond the co-operative education program. Through engagement with the Waterloo Centre for the Advancement of Co-operative Education (WatCACE), the Waterloo Professional Development Program (WatPD), and further curriculum developers, it will be possible for Waterloo to make experiential education available to all through work-integrated learning opportunities. Judene Pretti (Director of WatCACE) is currently one of the leaders in meeting the goals of this area within the strategic plan for the University of Waterloo.
In order to meet the goals of the Experiential Education theme, the EDGE Experiential Education certificate has been developed. The developed certificate program will provide students with a framework to facilitate reflection upon and synthesis of experiential education opportunities. Through engagement in the EDGE program, students will be able to increase the ability to identify and articulate the spectrum of skills developed during their undergraduate career. Students will also be able to develop essential career seeking goals.
