This is a free drop-in session open to all community members, staff, students and participants of our CCCARE exercise and research programs to meet one of our featured CCCARE researchers and learn about their ongoing work.
Researcher: Emily McLaughlin (MSc Candidate) working under the supervision of Dr. Lora Giangregorio.
Topic: Emily will be speaking to us about her work examining the bone response to resistance and impact exercise.
Description: Emily’s research will examine the effect of a 6 month moderate-to high-intensity resistance and impact exercise training program compared with balance and postural exercise on bone mineral density and measures of body composition in women taking anti-resorptive osteoporosis medication. My work is part of a larger clinical trial looking at the effects of exercise on various markers of bone growth, physical function measures, quality of life and falls and fractures. We are currently recruiting participants for this study.
