Julia Fraser is the research and operations manager at CCCARE at the University of Waterloo. She has been in her current position since February 2018 but has been working closely with CCCARE research initiatives since 2015. Prior to her position at CCCARE, Julia worked in various research coordination and project management positions at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute from 2009 to 2015, where she conducted fitness and mobility related research on older adults and individuals diagnosed with stroke, traumatic brain injury, cardiovascular disease and multiple sclerosis.

Julia received her BSc in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Waterloo in 2009 and went on to receive her master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Toronto in 2014. Julia’s publications and presentations focus on the use of wearable sensors for activity monitoring, the role of reactive balance control in fall risk, and the delivery of aerobic exercise training post-stroke. Julia’s current research interest focuses on the optimization and delivery of community based exercise programs, while examining the long-term health outcomes associated with participation in structured exercise.
