Cathy CobeyDrawing on 25 years as a technology risk advisor, Cathy Cobey is Ernst & Young’s Global Trusted AI Advisory Leader.  She leads a global team that considers the ethical and control implications of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. Cathy leverages her unique background as a CPA and her involvement with the EY Climate Change & Sustainability practice to consider the full spectrum of technological and societal implications in intelligent automation development.  Cathy serves on a number of technical advisory committees to develop industry and regulatory standards for emerging technology.   

Eric E. Cohen

Eric CohenEric Cohen is the owner of Cohen Computer Consulting, a consultancy focused on emerging accounting and audit technologies, including audit data standards, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, continuous audit, and XBRL. He is a co-founder of XBRL and chief architect of XBRL’s Global Ledger Taxonomy Framework (XBRL GL). As an ambassador of XBRL, he has worked in cooperation with virtually every other standards effort working on accounting and audit data; he is Domain Coordinator for the United Nations CEFACT Accounting and Audit Domain and a US and Canadian national expert to the ISO in accounting data standardization and blockchain technologies.  Eric has served on numerous study groups and committees for CPA Canada, the AICPA and the New York State Society of CPAs; he is chair of the upcoming NYSSCPA Digital Assets Conference.

Brian Friedrich

Brian FriedrichBrian Friedrich, FCPA, FCGA is a member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and sits on the Board’s e-Code and Technology Working Groups.  Brian is a principal in a research, standards, and education consultancy firm that focuses on building institutional capacity and developing strategic, policy, program, governance, and ethics guidance for established and emerging professional and regulatory organizations.  Previous to this, he worked in education for CPA Canada (then CGA Canada) and KPMG LLP.   Brian has served as a member of CPA Canada's Public Trust Committee (PTC) since 2011, chairing its Exposure Draft Working Group from 2014 to 2017. The PTC is responsible for overseeing the regulatory structures and processes across Canadian jurisdictions and helps ensure Canada meets or exceeds international standards.  He chaired the Ethics and Discipline committees of a CPA British Columbia legacy body for a number of years, including as a Tribunal Chair.  Brian holds a Master of Education and a Master of Laws.

Jerrard Gaertner is President at Managed Analytic Services Inc. (MAS), a company which he co-founded in 2012 providing analytics-as-a-service, strategic consulting and training in the areas of big data and predictive analytics. He is co-developer and lead instructor for the University of Toronto’s Certificate Programme in Enterprise Data Analytics and also Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Ryerson University where he teaches Law for Computer Security and graduate level computer security management. Prior to joining MAS, Mr. Gaertner held national responsibility for the systems assurance and computer auditing activities of a “Big 4” accounting firm.

For many years, Mr. Gaertner has been a technology leader and visionary, particularly interested in the impact of emerging technology on society, education and people. He is a chartered professional accountant (CPA) and multi-accredited professional in security, systems, governance, audit, privacy security and investigation.

Jeff Lui

Jeff LuiJeff Lui, CPA, CA is a Director in Deloitte’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Practice.  His current areas of focus include AI Ethics, Fairness, Safety, and Deception in AI applications.  He is also passionate about People & AI, including how organizations can become more intelligent through prediction intelligence. Jeff is also spearheading Deloitte’s Emotion + Platform – an AI technology that uses machine learning to predict emotions and sentiment.  In his previous life, Jeff spent over 4 years at Google, both in Toronto and in Mountain View, on their People & AI Team, where he led people transformations and implemented Machine Learning (ML) models. He helped Google transform from a traditional People organization into one that is now fully data-centric. Jeff Lui holds an MBA and is currently pursuing a PhD at Queen’s University focused on AI & Ethics.
