Please note: You must take Active Learning Online Part 1 to enroll in Part 2.
Active Learning Online Part 2 provides instructors the opportunity to practice with the tools explored in Part 1 and begin to design their own online teaching activities to promote student engagement. A live, 1-hour synchronous session will occur on Thursday, July 23rd at 1 PM.
Prior to the workshop, participants will complete small, interactive tasks as instructors to further develop their comfort with and understanding of the tools explored in Part 1 (Perusall, Piazza, Quizlet, Bongo Video Assignment, and Padlet). As they complete these tasks, a resource will guide them to consider the following:
- first and foremost, connections to their intended learning outcomes (ILOs);
- connections to the active learning framework introduced in Part 1; and
- design and development of their own active learning activity using a tool of their choice.
Notably, participants will fill out a brief template to help them align their activity with their ILO(s) and describe their activity within the context of their course. If they have begun to create their activity, they will be welcomed to share that as well, although this is not a requirement of the workshop.
Responses will be shared on a Padlet so participants can learn from each other, ask each other questions, and seek and offer feedback in a live, 1-hour, synchronous session.
Registration
Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.
Cancellations
Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
