Beyond the Final Exam (CTE7528)

Friday, July 17, 2020 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitator: Trevor Holmes (Centre for Teaching Excellence), Richard Li (Centre for Teaching Excellence) and Kyle Scholz (Centre for Teaching Excellence)

Description

When deciding how to assess what students have learnt at the end of a course, we often default to the classic, proctored final exam. At their best, these can be well-structured and be a true test of learning. However, the remote teaching environment poses numerous challenges for a traditional final exam. The good news: many alternatives exist. In this webinar, CTE staff with extensive teaching experience will put final, summative assessments in the context of an overall assessment plan and offer alternatives to the proctored, heavily-weighted final exam.

Information on how to join this webinar will be emailed to participants prior to the date.
