Documenting Your Teaching for Tenure and Promotion (CTE9908)

Wednesday, March 24, 2021 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitator: Monica Vesely (Centre for Teaching Excellence)

Description

Tenure and promotion are critical milestones in a faculty member's career. You need to collect evidence and document your successes in research, teaching, and service for various individuals and committees to assess. Although many faculty are well prepared to document their research and even service, evidence of good teaching can be more difficult to provide. In this session, you will hear from:

  • a panel of colleagues about their experience - what they found most helpful and what pitfalls to avoid,
  • Trevor Holmes, CTE’s Associate Director, about the use of the teaching dossier (for you to use or adapt in relation to the criteria identified by your Department Chair or School Director); and
  • David DeVidi, our Associate VP, Academic, who will provide a high-level introduction to the process of documenting teaching for tenure and promotion.

To help you get the most out of this session, we would like to hear what key questions you have for our panelists. What aspect of documenting your teaching are you hoping to hear about? Please send your questions to Monica Vesely (mvesely@uwaterloo.ca) by noon Friday, March 19, 2021.
