Description: PEAR (Peer Evaluation, Assessment and Review) is a tool developed by the University of Guelph that can be used for peer review of draft papers or for group members to evaluate one another. In this session we look at some ways that peers can provide feedback to one another in both individual and group settings. PEAR reduces the logistical nightmares associated with administering peer review of papers, especially for large classes (i.e. students submit draft papers that can be distributed anonymously to several colleagues who can provide anonymous feedback). PEAR can also be used to facilitate group evaluation (i.e. group members evaluate each other for work done on a group project). This presentation will focus primarily on use of PEAR for peer review of papers. Please be advised that Waterloo has a limited licence and can presently use PEAR with only 15 courses per term.
