In this session of the Collaboration and Teamwork Community of Practice we will look at Followership with Dr. Marc Hurwitz.
It's hard to get better at something when you don't understand it, talk about it, or have a framework for it. As instructors, we consciously help students develop a leadership identity, but what happens when they aren't "leading"? In other words, what about followership?
In this workshop we will consider different techniques for helping students develop a followership identity that complements and is congruent to their leadership identity. Dr. Marc Hurwitz is Associate Director, Undergraduate and Non-Degree Programs in the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business at University of Waterloo, mentoring and guiding entrepreneurs to grow and build their businesses. He combines a doctorate in cognitive neuroscience with graduate degrees in physics, applied mathematics, and business.
This workshop is co-hosted by CTE and the Collaboration and Teamwork Community of Practice.
The Collaboration and Teamwork Community of Practice is co-organized by the Department of Knowledge Integration and Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE). The purpose of the community of practice is to provide an opportunity for instructors – as well as those who study collaboration and teamwork -- to connect with their peers to share examples, experiences, ideas, resources and best practices around collaboration, teamwork and group work in education.
