GeoGebra: An Interactive Mathematical Tool for Plotting Functions and Creating Simulations (CTE792)

Workshop description
GeoGebra is an interactive mathematical software that, among the many other things, allows a user to plot functions and create simulations in real-time. The workshop will have two components, theoretical and practical. The first component will focus on the use of GeoGebra as a teaching tool, with a description of the various capabilities of the software and a showcase of examples of GeoGebra worksheets (including live examples). In the second component, participants will actually learn the basics of the program (which is quite intuitive). They will first learn how to create some basic Geogebra worksheets, and then be given time to experiment and (begin to) design something that they would be able to use in their courses. GeoGebra is useful not only for math courses but also many STEM courses.
Learning outcomes:
After the session, participants will be able to:
- identify some of the ways GeoGebra can be incorporated in their lectures
- experiment with the basic functionalities of the software
- design GeoGebra worksheets to use in their course
