Group Work (CTE1008)

Tuesday, November 26, 2019 9:30 am - 11:00 am EST (GMT -05:00)
Location: MC 2036
Facilitator: Shefaza Esmail (CTE)

Workshop description

Group work is often used as a tool to increase collaborative learning. Students are assigned to learn (as a group or independently) and have to come together and share their knowledge with one another.  In teams/groups, they will often have to produce deliverables on which they are assessed. Depending on the context, students often have mixed experiences with group work. Without careful planning, it may be infuriating for both the instructor and the students. On the other hand, group work can ultimately prepare students with collaborative skills that are often applicable in the future. In this workshop, we will discuss our experiences with group work, either as a student or instructor, and take a look at strategies of making group work a worthwhile and successful experience.

  • CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you’ve created an account, you can register for this workshop.
  • Participants will receive an attendance credit towards the Fundamentals program if they arrive on time and stay until the end of the event.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
