Open Educational Resources (OER) are fast becoming a major part of the Education landscape, especially with the new thrust towards “open.” Conceptually, OER are a sensible and cost‐effective way to incorporate quality material, including multimedia, into a particular teaching and learning scenario. Realistically, however, this is easier said than done. To be able to fully harness the potential of OER, you need to understand some of the guiding limitations of the philosophy. This session will explore five tips for using OER like a pro: (i) making the effort to change your mindset; (ii) if you take, how to give back; (iii) knowing your licenses; (iv) planning ahead; and (v) practicing first, policy to follow. There will be some individual and group activities during the session. Please bring a laptop or an internet enabled mobile device.
Registration
Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.
Cancellations
Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
