Improving Academic Integrity with Scheduled, Timed-Interval Exams

Thursday, June 10, 2021 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Facilitator: Rosina Kharal (Cheriton School of Computer Science) and Mary Power (Centre for Teaching Excellence)
Location: Online

Description

This session will cover an overview of delivering scheduled, timed-intervalonline exams through Learn.

This is an alternative approach to open interval online exams where students can take their exam anytime in 12 or 24 hours.

A scheduled approach involves giving students options such as taking the exam in one of three predefined intervals, 9am-11am, 3pm-5pm or 9pm-11pm.

This session will cover the basic logistics of how to conduct online exams in this manner, plus the advantages vs disadvantages of this approach.

We will survey the implementation and effectiveness of scheduled online exams in a computer science course (CS251) as a case study.
