Monday, May 12, 2025 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitators: Jason Thompson and Stephen Tosh

Description

This workshop is a Question & Answer (Q&A) session focusing on the effective use of LEARN for TAs.

For effective participation in the Q&A session please complete the pre-reading you are required to do that is found in the Teaching Assistant Training LEARN site.

  • You must self-register in the Teaching Assistant Training LEARN course and access the content under "Pre-work for LEARN for TAs (CTE6550)".

By the end of this session, TAs will be able to:

  • use the LEARN environment to communicate with students
  • use some of the basic tools within LEARN, specifically how to:
    • send Announcements,
    • upload Content,
    • sort by/interact with Groups
    • monitor Discussions,
    • grade Dropbox items, and
    • enter grades

Note: TAs should be enrolled as "TA" in the LEARN course they will be supporting during the upcoming term and should know the sorts of tasks the instructor will ask them to complete in that course. Please ask your instructor to enrol you as TA in the LEARN course for the current term.

This session will be offered remotely through MS Teams.
Registrants will receive a link to join the session, 24 hours before the session begins.

AFTER completing the prerequisite reading, please come prepared to this Q&A session with your remaining questions. Your LEARN questions will be answered and specific scenarios in LEARN will be demonstrated, as needed.

Registration required (if this is your first time using GoSignMeUp, you will need to set up your account first). If you have changed roles at the University (e.g., graduate student to faculty) please update your "Participant Profile" in your GoSignMeUp account.
