PebblePad Users Group (CTE7526)

Wednesday, March 24, 2021 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitator: Katherine Lithgow (Centre for Teaching Excellence)

Description

The PebblePad Users Group is an opportunity to hear how your colleagues across campus are using PebblePad. The sessions feature an instructor presenting their use of PebblePad within a course or program, discussing why they used PebblePad, and why this particular assignment, the impact it had on student learning, and any changes they would make in the future.

Presenters

  • Laura Middleton, Kinesiology
  • Jenn Coggan, Nanotechnology Engineering
  • Hsiao d’Ailly and Debbie Wang, Social Development Studies

Laura Middleton will show how she used a PebblePad workbook to provide her course content to her Kin 418 class.  The workbook included multi-media content interspersed with guided reflective prompts so students could pause at critical points to reflect on material as they progressed through the course.

Jenn Coggan created a PebblePad workbook designed to help students in her NE 307 course focus on the design process and the skills they will need to complete their Capstone Design Project. Not only did students reflect on their current skills and how to improve them, but Jenn was also able to use PebblePad reports on students’ responses to help identify what expectations and concerns they had. This information will be used to inform future iterations of the course.

Hsiao d’Ailly and Debbie Wang will show how they used PebblePad in a first year course to facilitate class presentations and a peer review process allowing students to provide their peers with constructive feedback.

Finally, Victoria Feth (Centre for Teaching Excellence) and Daniel Opperwall (Centre for Extended Learning) will be available to discuss the support available to instructors interested in integrating PebblePad into their own courses and programs.
