Students’ Beliefs about Learning (CTE2241)

Friday, June 21, 2019 9:30 am - 11:00 am EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: MC 2036

Facilitator: Laura Williams (CTE)

Workshop description

What are the factors that hold students back from learning and performing the best they can? How should students go about learning new content? In this interactive workshop, we will introduce and explore students’ mindsets—their identities, insecurities, and beliefs about intelligence and how one should learn—that enter the classroom with them and that can affect their learning before learning has even begun. You will work in small groups to discuss and develop strategies that can be implemented in your classroom to address these issues.

Registration

  • CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you’ve created an account, you can register for this workshop.
  • Participants will receive an attendance credit towards the Fundamentals program if they arrive on time and stay until the end of the event.
  • We recommend taking this workshop before your first microteaching session.
  • Limited to 15.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
