Workshop description
This webinar provides an introduction to key principles and strategies for facilitating online and remote courses for teaching assistants in higher education. Topics discussed include, a primer on the online and remote learning context and online students, strategies and tips for:
- building presence,
- engaging and supporting students online, and
- key modes of interaction, such as announcements, emails, online discussions, and online labs and tutorials are discussed.
Workshop delivery
This is a live session that will take place in Webex Meetings. The link to the Webex session will be sent to you by email closer to the date.

Registration
- Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you’ve created an account, you can register for this workshop.
- Participants will receive an attendance credit towards the Fundamentals program if they attend the full live session.
Cancellations
This workshop has limited enrolment spots and often has a waiting list. If you have registered but can't complete the module, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
