Teaching Diverse Learners (CTE2257)

Tuesday, November 12, 2019 9:30 am - 11:30 am EST (GMT -05:00)
Location: MC 2036
Facilitator: Shefaza Esmail (CTE) and Faiza Omar (CTE)

Workshop description

Our classrooms are filled with students who represent a broad range of racial, cultural, linguistic, physical, and intellectual backgrounds. This workshop provides a starting point for honouring and benefiting from this diversity in our classrooms. Through self-reflection and discussion, we'll provide teaching strategies for optimizing our diverse students' engagement, comprehension, and retention. By the end of this workshop, participants will be better equipped to develop their roles as instructors of diverse learners, to improve classroom accessibility, and to shape instruction to meet student needs.

Registration

  • CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you’ve created an account, you can register for this workshop.
  • Participants will receive an attendance credit towards the Fundamentals program if they arrive on time and stay until the end of the event.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
