Description
The Virtual Reality/ Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Community of Practice is coordinated collaboratively by the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL). The purpose of the community of practice is to provide an opportunity for instructors to connect with their peers to share examples, experiences, ideas, and best practices around Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in education. The community of practice meets monthly.
John Johnston has been able to purchase a Google Expedition Kit for 20 students funded by the Dean of Science Undergraduate Teaching Initiative. Earth and Environmental Sciences are leveraging the use of a Google Expedition Kit to engage and motivate students in immersive learning experiences that are otherwise impossible (i.e. Geologic History of the Grand Canyon) or not feasible (i.e. 3D perspective of volcanoes of the world) or invisible (i.e. age-dating rocks). John will provide a Google Expedition demo for up to 20 participants.
Registration
Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.
Cancellations
Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
