Description
Virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) involve the use of technology to enter an alternate, 3D view of the real world, a fantasy world, or a combination of both using a desktop computer or a mobile phone. Research is demonstrating that these technologies can be used effectively to facilitate the acquisition and practice of skills; provide opportunities to explore distant, dangerous, or inaccessible locations; bring together distant people for educational purposes; and enable learners to take on the perspective of others.
Virtual reality is being explored across campus as a way to enhance learning and bridge educational gaps. Several members of the VR/AR Community of Practice will share their experiences and provide participants with the opportunity to ask questions while exploring the potential of VR/AR inside and outside the classroom. Presenters include John Johnston (Earth and Environmental Sciences), Thorsten Dieckmann (Chemistry), and James McCarthy (Environment) and Anne Grant (Environment).
Registration
Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.
Cancellations
Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.
