Waterloo High Impact Practice (CTE6740)

Tuesday, May 7, 2019 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Facilitator: Monica Vesely (Centre for Teaching Excellence)

Topic – Teaching Squares

Description

A light lunch will be provided.   Please register so we can plan accordingly.

The WHIP Group is collective of Waterloo faculty and staff who support the use of High Impact Practices in teaching and learning. WHIP Group members meet for lunch a few times a year to share their successes, challenges, and tips for High Impact teaching and learning.

During CTE events, you have the opportunity to meet colleagues across campus interested in enhancing student learning, perhaps through the integration experiential learning or high impact practices into courses and programs, or by deploying different active learning strategies. To help build on the relationships and connections you’ve made, why not consider forming a teaching square?

Teaching Squares  are ideal for those interested in broadening their exposure to different teaching techniques and styles by taking part in reciprocal classroom visits with other instructors. The focus is on the positive take-aways gained from observing other teachers in action rather than on evaluating your peers.  And it is a great way to stay in touch with individuals you have met at CTE events.

Join us on May 7 from noon to 1:30.  Monica Vesely will share more information on teaching squares, and how CTE can help you coordinate one.

Registration

Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.

Accessibility

The University of Waterloo is committed to achieving barrier-free accessibility for persons with disabilities who are studying, working, or visiting at Waterloo. If you have questions concerning access, such as parking, building layouts, or obtaining information in alternative formats, or wish to request accommodations for a CTE workshop or event, please contact CTE via email (cte@uwaterloo.ca) or phone (ext. 33857) and include the session’s title and date. Our workshops typically involve a mix of presentation and discussion-based activities, and we encourage a scent-free environment. We also welcome accompanying assistants, interpreters, or note-takers; notify us if accommodations are needed in this regard. Please note that some accommodations may require time to arrange.
