Luke is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science (Faculty of Mathematics) at the University of Waterloo. Luke holds a BMath in Mathematical Optimization and Statistics and MMath in Statistics, both from UW. His current research interests involve developing methods to position posterior probabilities as a viable alternative to
p-values and Bayes factors in a variety of scenarios. Luke has also been involved at UW as a Student Ambassador in the Visitors Centre and as a consultant at the Statistical Consulting and Collaborative Research Unit (SCCR).
Luke completed the CTE’s Fundamentals of University Teaching program in 2021 and is currently enrolled in the Certificate in University Teaching (CUT) program. He has held various TA positions at UW over the past 6 years. Luke is looking forward to applying knowledge from the CUT program when leading the CTE’s TA workshops and teaching a statistics course in the near future.
