In her role as Graduate Educational Developer, Becky supports the pedagogical development of the graduate community by mobilizing her expertise with self-reflexive instructional practices. She provides actionable feedback on lesson structure and content delivery, as well as actionable strategies for creating an interactive and inclusive learning environment. An experienced mentor, she is excited to build and celebrate the instructional development of Waterloo’s graduate community, while critically reflecting on opportunities for grown in her own instructional practices.
Becky is a doctoral candidate with the Department of English, while also pursuing a concurrent Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Science. Her research examines fantastic fictional worlds to consider what elements make these worlds convincing and immersive, and how these elements change across different mediums. Her research then applies these elements to create convincing and immersive worlds for simulation-based assessment tools.
