Amanda Nova

Amanda is a graduate student and TA workshop facilitator at CTE. She was inspired to join our team after completing her Certificate in University Teaching in 2022. After working as a TA in the School of Public Health Sciences over the last five years, Amanda found that the best teachers (and people) are committed to being lifelong learners. They seek opportunities to connect with others, build new skills, and challenge their beliefs about the world.

Born and raised in Waterloo, Amanda is currently working towards a joint PhD between the School of Public Health Sciences at UW and the Department of Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven in Belgium. Her dissertation focuses on measuring and improving nursing home quality, specifically when it comes to person-centred care and quality of life. Other topics that Amanda is passionate about include health informatics, cancer care, aging, ethics, and communication. In her free time, Amanda likes hiking with friends, trying out new recipes, and playing board games.
