Carina Filice is a PhD candidate in the department of Biology at the University of Waterloo. She holds a BSc Honours in Biology with a Microbiology specialization also from the University of Waterloo (’18). Her doctoral research explores the contributions of melatonin and antimicrobial peptides in relation to Alzheimer’s disease. Carina completed the Centre for Teaching Excellence’s Fundamentals in University Teaching program (FUT) in 2021 and is currently participating in the Certificate for University Teaching Program (CUT). She has extensive TA experience in a wide variety of biology laboratory courses as well as several guest lectures for Biology and Biophysics courses where she strives to improve student learning through the implementation of FUT & CUT learning strategies.
