The Waterloo Educational Technologies (EdTech) Communities of Practice offer a unique opportunity for instructors to connect with their peers to share examples, experiences, ideas, and best practices around Educational Technologies.
Currently, Communities of Practice are organized under the themes below. Please contact Lynn Long (email@example.com) to discuss the possibility of additional themes.
Educational Technologies (EdTech)
The EdTech Community of Practice (coming in October 2019) provides an opportunity for instructors to connect with their peers to share examples, experiences, ideas, and best practices around all kinds of educational technologies. If you are interested in joining contact Lynn Long.
Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) in Education
The VR/AR Community of Practice will be coordinated collaboratively by CTE and CEL. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for instructors to connect with their peers to share examples, experiences, ideas, and best practices around VR and AR in education.
Event: GoPro Omni photosphere capture with Michael Tjendra
Date: Mon. Sept. 30
Time: 12:30 – 1:30
Michael Tjendra will demonstrate how he has used the GoPro Omni to create virtual expeditions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in the process of capturing photosphere images and using software to stitch the images together in order to see how these could be turned into a virtual expedition.
In addition, Gillian Dabrowski, Michael, and others will be available to share information related to purchasing VR cameras. There will be an opportunity to compare consumer and professional grade camera image quality.
Registration is required. CTE has a new registration system called GoSignMeUp. Before you can register for a workshop, you need to create an account (one time only). Once you've created an account, you can register for this workshop.
