His research is focused on ergonomic design and biomechanical evaluation using electromyography (EMG), human motion capture and force platform of external trunk supports to be used with manual material handling and stationary work tasks.

This work has lead to a re-examination of optimal work heights and reach distances with static and dynamic trunk postures with standing work while leaning forward (desk, conveyer belts, hospital beds, etc.).

In addition to research, Dr. Abdoli teaches Ergonomics, Physical Agents, Control Methods and Sectoral Applications.
