LOCATION:CGR - Conrad Grebel University 140 Westmount Road North Waterloo O
 N N2L 3G6 Canada
SUMMARY:Trinity\, Then and Now
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Grebel Gallery is pleased to present a selection of three w
 orks\nfrom Mary Kavanagh’s solo exhibition\, Daughters of Uranium1\nfoll
owing her decade-long investigation into the veiled history of\nnuclear ar
mament. Derived from the chemical sciences\, the term\n“daughters of ura
nium” refers to the radioactive decay chain of\nnaturally occurring Uran
ium (U-235 being the crucial element for\nsustaining a nuclear chain react
ion) while evoking generations born\ninto an uncertain future. Rich with s
 cientific\, literary\, and\nhistorical references\, the exhibition is conc
eptualized as a series of\n“chapters” that encourages a certain interp
retive agency\, while\nreflecting on the continuum of 20th and 21st centur
 y war.
