About Suyeon

Suyeon believes that peace begins with little steps in daily life, not through ignoring little cracks but reacting to the conflict to resolve the problem. She has a desire for peace and justice, and because of this, is always willing to go on a new adventure!

Suyeon has an undergraduate degree in Media Communication and a minor in Social Welfare from Sungshin University in South Korea. She graduated from this program in February 2017. While she was a student, Suyeon was devoted to building community at her university. Suyeon will be working as the CPA Host from August 2018 – July 2019 through participation in Mennonite Central Committee's International Volunteer Exchange Program (IVEP). Previously, Suyeon worked as an Administrative Officer and meditation writing teacher for GGUMTLE, an NGO focused on alternative education.

Suyeon grew up in Korea, which is the only separated country in the world. Due to war and division in Korea, she experienced various forms of intergenerational trauma, but she also has strong aspirations for the unification of North and South Korea and building peace. Suyeon is interested in Peace and Conflict Studies, and building and encouraging community. She loves to meet new people and learn about other cultures and innovative approaches to peace.

Suyeon is really excited for her new experience with IVEP, and appreciates the opportunity to be a part of the CPA in Conrad Grebel University College.
