Katie joined the Epp Peace Incubator in September 2015, eager to invest the landscape of peace education in Waterloo Region. She holds a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Waterloo. She has over five years of experience developing and facilitating peace education curriculum for camp and classroom settings, and is passionate about giving youth the tools they need to transform conflict and seek justice.

Rachel is excited to be the newest employee at TREE. Her primary responsibility will be to coordinate and develop program material for the grade six social studies classes and workshops. While completing her BA inPeace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo,  Rachel worked in Zambia as the Program Coordinator for a similar organization called Peace Clubs. After writing peace curriculum and leading workshops overseas, she is excited about bringing her knowledge about peace education to youth in her own backyard. She is also passionate about refugee issues, yoga/mindfulness, and empowering young women. 

Carly Richardson

Facilitator Development Intern

Carly Richardson Carly is completing her Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo and working as TREE’s facilitator development intern. She will be working closely with TREE staff and facilitators during the 2017-2018 school year to assist in providing the best conflict resolution lessons possible. During her undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, Carly worked as a facilitator for Introduction to Global Studies tutorials and has a passion for teaching and education. She is also passionate about social and political awareness, and challenging ourselves to be conscious global citizens.

Alexa Boyd

TREE Classrooms Facilitator

Alexa BoydAlexa is a returning facilitator, excited to begin her second year working with TREE. She is in her third-year studying global studies, with a social entrepreneurship option and education minor, at Wilfrid Laurier University. Alexa loves to see students learning and engaging with conflict resolution skills. She is passionate about equity issues, teaching and learning, and the power of positivity. 

Kai Butterfield

TREE Classrooms Facilitator

Kai ButterfieldKai is in her third-year of in peace and conflict studies, with a minor in sociology at the University of Waterloo. She's excited to work with TREE because she believes the programs foster community-building and shows students that peace literacy can translate into valuable life skills. Previously, she has developed social justice curriculum with ALPHA Education, and has worked with youth in Canada and Cambodia. Kai is passionate about helping young people develop strategies to build meaningful relationships. <--break->

Aaron Holden

TREE Classrooms Facilitator

Aaron HoldenThis is Aaron’s first year working with TREE. As a facilitator, he looks forward to visiting several classrooms around Waterloo region.  Aaron is a certified teacher with the Ontario College of teachers and recently graduated from Nipissing and Wilfrid Laurier Universities in Brantford. Aaron graduated with a bachelors of arts in contemporary studies and a bachelors of education in primary/junior grades. He has spent several summers working for the City of Kitchener in their accessibility division. He strongly believes in equity and fairness for all. Aaron is excited to be working to promote positive interactions between students. <--break->

Sarah Klujber

TREE Classrooms Facilitator

Sarah KlujberSarah is a third-year global studies major with an advanced minor in management at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is eager to begin her second year with TREE because she loves encourage students to engage with real-life problems while giving them the tools to solve them. Sarah brings several years of experience working with youth and facilitating camp programs. She is passionate about equality, education, and opportunities to learn with and from others. <--break->

Perri Termine

TREE Classrooms Facilitator

Perri TerminePerri is returning for her second year with the TREE team. She is in her third year of global studies and french with an option in social entrepreneurship. She has experience facilitating programs for youth, and teaching social justice concepts. Perri is passionate about working with children as they develop, particularly building relationships and creating trust and safe spaces among her students. <--break->
